Stéphane Marco
Nice
Born in Fréjus, in the Var region of France, Stéphane Marco has been a photographer since he was 16.
He discovered black and white photography at a photography club in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, and "Leica" (a German make of camera) - a couple of years later, thanks to Edouard Boubat's book.
"This camera taught me to be a different kind of photographer. I only use use the old optics of the 30’s to 70's, because they are softer for silver-film black and white photos, which are very poetic. Inspired by nature, I come across the subjects of my photographs when I'm taking walks or riding my bike. Time, silence, calm and a good light are the conditions I favour for taking pictures."
