Born in Normandy in 1948, Maryvonne POULAIN settles in Paris after her studies where she fulfilled her first passion for classic and modern dancing. A dramatic accident changed her life. After months in the hospital, she looses the use of her left leg. Forced to move in a wheelchair, she left Paris for south of France, and settles in Montfort sur Argens.

Marked by the consequences of that terrible accident, she first goes out to see the painting exhibitions in the nearby villages while spending most of her time on drawing. On contact whith the artists she meets at exhibitions she develops a passion for painting and attends several art lessons to learn different technics. She quickly liberates herself from the contraints often imperative of the teachers and gives up the brush for the knife, a technic more adapted to her passionate spirit.

Animal, various landscapes, remain of the past, everyday life scenes, are her subjects. She transposes on the canvas her passion for life with light, colors, relief, movement in a certain depth.

Her art has been favourably welcome by the general public and by professionals in local, regional and even parisian exhibitions. Her paintings are part of many private collections in France and abroad like England, United States (Florida, Texas), Morocco,..
