Mano
Callian
Born in Spain near Bilbao in 1961, Mano lived in the Paris region before settling down in Callian, a village in the Var region of southern France. It was during this time at the Brickzolces Studio, near to Iule Amado-Fischgrund, Paris in 1999 where she learned about different methods of artwork, and where mosaics became her passion.
The juxtaposition of different materials (pieces of glass, powder, enamel, marble, mirrors, stained glass etc…) The association of colours; using different tools and techniques, allowed me to develop and grow as an artist.
I love mosaics because they bring a different perspective to material and time.
Far from chaos, I work towards unity. My research inspires me because it allows me to express my creativity, putting together different materials and giving them a different meaning.
I mainly use colourful materials because I feel drawn to colour. The compositions and their rhythms happen as I go along and am inspired. After working on the overall picture, I look to the depth of the piece where I experiment with light and shadow.
